Who does God call you

What does God call you? Are you His friend, like Abraham, with whom He shared His secrets (James 2:23)? Or are you a man or woman after His own heart, like David, eager to align with His will (Acts 13:22)? If your relationship with Him is focused on how good He has been to you without reflecting His glory back to Him, you are missing the mark. “It is better to obey than to sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams” (1 Samuel 15:22).

When you obey God’s instructions, He calls you His friend and reveals to you the mysteries of His heart. Jesus said, “You are My friends if you do what I command. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:14-15).

Consider Abraham, who interceded for Lot and his family in Sodom (Genesis 18:23-33). Because of Abraham’s obedience and covenant with God, Lot was spared, even though he lived in a city destined for destruction. God’s mercy extended to Lot and his family, not because of their deeds, but because of Abraham’s standing with God. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

When God rescues you, not because you deserve it, but because of His faithfulness, your response should be unwavering obedience and songs of praise. David declared, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).

In times of trouble, seek Him always. Scripture reminds us, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). Just like David inquired of the Lord before every battle and received clear instructions, you too will find clarity and victory when you ask Him (1 Samuel 30:8).

Make it your priority to live for Him, not for yourself. “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23). Let obedience define your relationship with God, for it is in surrendering to His will that you find true friendship with Him and the blessings of His guidance, mercy, and favor.
