The Miracle Investment: When God Multiplies Your Last Coin
You know those moments when you’re absolutely, positively, 100% convinced that if God doesn’t show up, you’re about to have a full-blown crisis? Yep. That was me.
I had reached the end of my last coin. Four kids staring at me, bills giving me side-eye, and debt that had me considering the witness protection program (if only that were an option for unpaid loans). My husband had passed on, and the financial weight was something I could only compare to trying to carry a hippo up a mountain—barefoot. I was in that zone where you pray, fast, and try to remember all the Bible verses about provision, but at the same time, you’re looking at your mobile banking app like, Lord, where is Jehovah Jireh in these numbers?
Then, as if scripted in one of those feel-good faith movies, He walked up to me.
Now, let me be clear, I had already sensed in my spirit that God was about to do something. You know that feeling? That unshakable conviction that God is about to flip the script? I had it. What I didn’t expect was the plot twist.
This man—let’s call him Faith with Feet—approached me with a request. “I have this burning desire to start a cooking business,” he said, eyes shining with the kind of passion that makes you wonder if you missed your calling in life. But then his face changed. “I’ve been let down so many times. People promised to help, but nothing came through.”
At this point, I nodded, ready to give him the standard God will make a way response when—out of nowhere—the words that flew out of my mouth surprised even me.
I asked, “How much do you need?”
“Just 4,000,” he said.
I blinked. And blinked again. “Excuse me?”
“4,000 shillings,” he repeated.
I was taken aback. See, in my mind, starting a business required at least a million. Here I was, asking God for seven figures, and this man was believing for four thousand? That’s not even a proper grocery run when you have kids with appetites! But then something clicked in my spirit: If God could bring this man his breakthrough with just 4,000, why was I limiting my faith to my bank balance?
Faith is a funny thing—it makes you do what doesn’t make sense. So I did the most radical thing I could think of: I walked into my account (yes, the very one that looked like a desert in a drought), pulled out the money, and invested in his dream.
The man was ecstatic. You’d think I had handed him the keys to a five-star restaurant. But here’s where it gets even crazier—his excitement wasn’t just about the business. He turned to his wife and said, “You need to go to WOFBI.” And before I knew it, he was planning for his son’s future, ensuring his wife would enroll in a hairdressing course I would introduce her to through SHOFCO.
You see, Faith with Feet had caught something that day. Hope. Belief. The understanding that one small act of obedience can lead to a series of miracles.
And boy, did the miracles flow.
Before I could even process what had happened, every single project I was working on suddenly got sorted. Doors opened, contracts landed, payments that had been stuck in bureaucracy suddenly came through. I didn’t just receive the 1 million I had been asking for—I got three times as much. And the best part? It wasn’t a one-time thing. It became a continuous flow.
At this point, I had to sit myself down and just shake my head. God, You are something else! And to think that this last coin was actually my dividend money—the money I receive yearly, which I have always taken and eaten. But this time, I was determined to reinvest it. And what a way to reinvest—in God’s bank! A heavenly deposit with an interest rate that earthly banks could never match.
So here’s the lesson, my dear friends: when you’re at the end of your last coin, don’t panic. Give. Believe. Stretch your faith even when your bank account is stretching nothing but its patience. Because when you move in obedience, God moves in multiplication.
And if you’re waiting on your million-shilling breakthrough? Just remember—sometimes it starts with 4,000 and a willing heart.
