Mountains or Molehills? The Holy Spirit’s Masterclass on Handling Issues

Today, I had an eye-opening conversation with my customer relations manager. She told me that before responding to any client issues, she would first gather all of them into one grand collection. It was as if she was preparing for an art exhibition of complaints!

At first, I nodded, thinking, Ah, strategic thinking! But then a small voice in my spirit—yes, the Holy Spirit Himself—tapped me on the shoulder and said, Now, is this how you do things too?

You see, I have always believed that my staff are a reflection of me… unless, of course, I hired wrongly. And in that moment, the Holy Spirit turned this simple conversation into a mentorship session.

“Why do you wait for problems to pile up like dirty laundry before addressing them?” He asked. “Do you want to deal with a mountain when you could have handled small stones along the way?”

Boom! Conviction hit me like a sudden pothole on a smooth road.

The truth is, in business, as in life, dealing with issues as they arise builds trust. Imagine if hospitals refused to treat patients until they had enough to fill an entire ward? Or if mechanics waited until your car completely broke down before checking that funny sound? That would be a disaster! Yet, here we are, sometimes choosing to wait until problems become unmanageable instead of addressing them one at a time.

So, I took this as a personal lesson: Respond to each issue promptly instead of allowing small matters to snowball into a full-blown crisis. Whether in business, relationships, or faith—consistency in addressing matters makes all the difference.

And just like that, the Holy Spirit used a casual workplace chat to teach me a life-changing principle!

Lesson 101: Deal with issues as they arise!

I realized I had been guilty of the same behavior—waiting for things to pile up instead of tackling them one by one. Waiting for a mountain to grow before addressing it is like waiting for a blocked drain to turn into a flood before deciding to unclog it. Not only does it make things worse, but it also destroys trust and relationships.

Dealing with things as they come creates a good working relationship rather than a one-off, reactionary approach. Just think about it—how would you feel if someone ignored your concerns for weeks and then suddenly wanted to fix everything overnight? Exactly! It doesn’t build trust; it builds resentment.

Change starts with ME. If I want a team that’s proactive, I must be proactive. If I want people who solve problems as they come, I must be that kind of leader. God doesn’t just drop leadership qualities on us like rain; He prunes, teaches, and refines us so that we bear fruit. And today, He made it clear—change is a must if I want to be fruitful.

So here’s my takeaway: Whether in business, leadership, or personal growth, don’t wait for a crisis to act. Solve problems while they are still molehills before they turn into mountains. The longer you wait, the harder it is to undo the mess. And trust me, no one wants to be cleaning up a flood when they could have just fixed the leak!

God is still teaching me, but one thing I know for sure—I’m taking this lesson to heart. If I change, my team changes. If I grow, my business grows. And if I apply wisdom daily, I will build lasting trust, relationships, and success. So here’s to acting NOW instead of later!
