Testimony Begets Testimony: A Day of Love, Lessons, and God’s Hand at Work
estimony Begets Testimony: A Day of Love, Lessons, and God’s Hand at Work
There are days when God shows up so clearly that you just have to laugh and say, “Okay, Lord, I see You!” This was one of those days.
I had just come from church, full of the Word and ready to put my faith into action. Normally, instead of resting, I would sit and meditate on all my problems—analyzing them from every angle as if overthinking had ever solved anything! But this time, I decided to do something different. I prepared my children’s favorite meal, hoping to lift my own spirits in the process.
Now, any parent knows that getting kids to help in the kitchen is usually like asking them to volunteer for extra homework. But this time, they helped so much it was almost suspicious! I felt their love in every little task, from setting the table to stirring the pot. Even Mama Mapenzi, our new pastor’s wife—who is full of love and always seems to notice everything—smiled and said, “Leo watoto wako wamepata malaika gani?” (Which angel visited your children today?)
As we ate together, my children told me that they had been taught to show love, not just say it. That hit me deep. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Here they were, living proof that seeds of love, discipline, and faith bear fruit in due time. I appreciated them so much in that moment, realizing that sometimes the best reward is seeing your children reflect God’s goodness.
Later, I decided to rest. My plan? Read the Word, whisper a prayer, and drift into the kind of peaceful sleep that only comes when you leave your burdens at Jesus’ feet (Matthew 11:28). But just as I was about to enter that sweet sleep, my phone rang.
It was the Ogwels.
Now, if you’ve ever had car trouble, you know what a miracle it is when the mechanic calls you instead of you chasing them like an unfulfilled prophecy. The car had been involved in an accident, and to make matters worse, I only had third-party cover—not comprehensive. You can imagine how I had been stressing over this! But the Ogwels told me they were ready to fix it—either repair the damage or just fix everything altogether. Just like that!
Mind you, this call came after two hours of peaceful sleep, and let me tell you, that alone was a miracle. I had been praying for God to make a way, and here He was, answering in the most unexpected way. Isaiah 65:24 says, “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.” That’s exactly what happened.
Then, I checked my messages and found one from my niece. My niece, whom I had (let’s just say) not handled with the most grace in the past. She was asking me for a letter of recommendation. I chuckled because isn’t that just how God works? He will test the very area you’ve been praying about. I had been asking Him to help me fix my eyes on Him—to trust Him more, know Him more, and grow in Him. And here He was, teaching me about grace and forgiveness through an opportunity to extend kindness to my niece.
Earlier that day, I had shared a testimony in Teens Church. The teens had refused to testify at first, but after hearing mine, they started sharing their own. It was proof that testimony truly begets testimony. When we share what God has done, it stirs faith in others. Revelation 12:11 reminds us, “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”
By the end of the day, I sat back and marveled. A day that started with simple obedience—feeding my children with love—ended with answered prayers, unexpected blessings, and a reminder that God is always at work.
Sometimes, all you need to do is fix your eyes on God, and He will fix everything else.
