Generosity Overflowing In Jesus

I walked into Carrefour, and it felt like stepping into a realm of grace—people were kind, giving way, and apologizing, saying, “Sorry for blocking the path.” Then I entered Naivas, and it was as though I’d stepped into the wilderness: a teenage boy boldly jumped the queue, looked me straight in the eye, and claimed he was in front of me all along. That moment, I had a revelation: I don’t want to live a life of scrambling, defending positions, or competing for scraps. I want to live in abundance—the kind where I overflow so much that I give without hesitation.

One reason to be generous is that it is God’s law: “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Another reason is that it’s His will for me to live a life of abundance. Jesus Himself said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). In fact, this abundant life is one of the reasons He died for me—to rewrite my story and establish a legacy of blessing for me and my generation.

From today, I commit to cheerful giving, not out of fear or obligation, but in faith, knowing that my God cannot be out-given. “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap” (Luke 6:38). Because I am a giver, my story and that of my family will change. My generation will know abundance—not from scrambling but from God’s overflow in our lives. This is my portion in Jesus’ name, and I declare that as I give, I receive exceedingly and abundantly more than I could ever imagine.
